Text tools
Counting what you have written, comparing two versions of it, and reshaping it into URLs or HTML. The word counter lives in this category; the rest of the site's text work sits in neighbouring ones and is linked below.
Counting text, and the limits that force it
Words, characters, sentences, paragraphs and reading time, updated as you type. Most people counting text are counting against a limit: meta descriptions clipped around 155–160 characters, title tags around 60, and word limits set by a publisher or a course.
Reading time is an estimate derived from the word count at an assumed reading speed, not a measurement of anyone in particular.
The text tools in neighbouring categories
- Diff Checker, under Developer, compares two blocks of text or code line by line and merges them.
- Slug Generator, under SEO, turns a headline into a URL-safe slug with a live preview.
- Markdown to HTML, under Converters, renders Markdown to sanitized HTML with a preview beside it.
Looking for all of them at once?
The Text Utilities collection gathers those three alongside the word counter, which makes it the better starting point while this category is still filling out.
